♥ Top 5 Expectations in Pokemon X&Y
Hey wassup everyone!! Ruby here. Now some of you have been reminding me that i need to make up for the pokemon days that i have missed so i decided to make like top 5 lists of stuff regarding pokemon. So as many of you know,pokemon 6th gen is coming out soon and since there have not been too many updates so far,we are still free to speculate what kind of new features the game will have. Of course everyone will have expectations on the game and so do i. Thus,i shall be sharing my views with you guys and hopefully at least 1/2 of them will come true =) As i was penning down my thoughts yesterday(yes,i do make plans on what to write about!!),i did also include some suggestions but still this is just my opinion so yea... I agree that some of them are just ridiculous but nobody ever said you can't dream right? ;)
5) 6th gen Pokemon Contests
Ok,starting off,pokemon contests have been around since 3rd gen and ever since i saw it on TV,i was really fascinated by it. I mean seeing pokemon utilising their moves for such artistic displays is really cool. I feel like pokemon contests brings about a whole new perspective on pokemon,it shows that pokemon are not just limited to battling but even they can dazzle us under the spotlight =) Of course pokemon contests are not as grand in-game as they are in the anime but participating in pokemon contests is also quite challenging,especially if you are entering the "Master rank" contests.(Believe me,i was frustrated when that Houndoom won by just spamming hyper beam -.-*) Contests were still available in D/P/P but i am still more accustomed to R/S/E contestsas the rules are simpler. Also contests provided a use for berries that we would seldom use. There were even some berries that were specially for making pokeblocks! But contests were removed in 5th gen and i was upset because they replaced contests with something even worse. So pokewood may sound cool at first but it's just a pain,plus the fact that you have to act in pokewood to progress the story in B2/W2 just pisses me off. It's time-consuming and lame,what's more you don't even win anything(maybe just a few freaking medals for medal rally,but that's all!!).Don't get me wrong,i do enjoy those pokewood episodes in the anime but in-game,pokewood is just not exciting enough... At least if you won a contest,ur pokemon would be presented with ribbons to commerate ur win. I really hope that in 6th gen, the Grand Festival is available so there's more use to the ribbons you get. Well,i don't really hate on pokemon musicals that much but it still lacks that competition in comparison to contests.
4) Making more shiny pokemon available in-game
Many of us know that if we encounter a shiny pokemon in the wild,no matter which pokemon,we are super duper lucky. And yes,in newer games we do have a chance to catch or obtain shiny pokemon. For example,the shiny haxorus in the nature reserve and the shiny gible(B2) or shiny dratini(W2) after completing Black tower/White treehollow. Normally people use cheats to obtain these rare pokemon and those who don't know how to use cheats just hope that they are lucky enough to encounter one. There have been items like the shiny charm that increase the encounter rate of shinies but the chances are still rather low. I was thinking that maybe we should have these special locations only accessible once a week where shiny pokemon can be caught at a 100% encounter rate for a limited period of time. This way people won't have to resort to cheats and it will definitely be more convenient to encounter shiny pokemon.
3) Being able to walk with pokemon
It all started with yellow version when pikachu would follow you. Then HGSS made it that the first pokemon in ur party would do the same thing. I found that feature to be really nifty and adorable. I still remember when my Cyndaquil would follow along and then it evolved into Typholosion. That thing looked so badass behind me,it was like warning trainers to think twice about battling me XD I have seen a cheat that allows the pokemon to follow you in B/W but the movements are kinda awkward and stuff. I'm not complaining but i just wish that they would have that feature in the new game,plus with all the new pokemon,it will be so cool =D Walking with ur pokemon also increased their friendship towards you and you were able to tell the feelings of pokemon at any location or maybe if they were inflicted with a status problem or low on health.
2) Implement Secret Bases
These were available starting in R/S/E when that one guy would give you the TM for Secret Power which allow you to turn specific locations into ur very own secret base. That was one of the best features in pokemon games and i was disappointed that they removed secret bases in 5th gen =( Secret bases were available in 4th gen but they could only be found underground which was quite inconvenient. However,in comparison to 3rd gen secret bases,they were much larger. In 3rd gen,there wasn't much room in ur secret base and you would probably have to wait til after-game before sb will start selling planks that you can use to cover up the holes in ur base. Furthermore,there was small limit to the no.of decorations that you could place inside. In the new gen,i really hope that the limit would be increased and also that there would be more decorations available. Also instead of being limited to only 1 base,it definitely be nice to have several bases around the region. Secret bases have always been a favourite of mine and i know that some of you put in a lot of effort to decorate ur base etc. Maybe secret bases should have other added functions in 6th gen,maybe for teleportation??(omg,i watch too many spy and fantasy movies >.<) I'm getting off topic... Let's just continue with the last expectation.....
1)Being able to catch previous gen. starters
Don't lie to urself,you know that if given a chance you would definitely want to catch a Charmander ot Totodile in the wild :p Which is why it will be great,awesome,fantastic etc to finally be able to catch starters in the wild!! In HGSS,you are allowed to choose one of the starters from 1st and 3rd gen. But of course everyone wants to "catch them all",so GameFreak designers,why not make our lives easier by making starter pokemon available earlier on instead of having to trade them?? Weel since they are starters,they should be made pretty hard to obtain. It is defintelya good idea to make starters catchable in hidden grottos(did i mention before that i really like the hidden grotto feature in 5th gen?) but at a 1% encounter rate. Well,it's almost as hard as finding an Eevee at Castelia Garden but even harder XD This way,the starters won't be so easy to obtain but will still be available!!
Anyways,those are my top 5 expectations for 6th gen. Whether or not they come true is up the GF designers. Of course in event that they do not come true,then i can do is hope that in future pokemon games they will be implemented. I'm sorry that today's post is quite lengthy but i just had to get that off my chest. Stay tuned for more pokemon days and hope you enjoy~ ^.^
